OKLAHOMA HORSESHOE PITCHERS ASSOCIATION

JUNIOR HORSESHOE PITCHER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

 

ELIGIBILITY:

  1. Any youth who were NHPA members who participated in a sanctioned league or on the sanctioned tournament circuit during the pitching season prior to the last school year.
  2. Any eligible Junior pitcher may apply for this scholarship each year of his/her eligibility, regardless of previous scholarship awards.

 

CLASS AND AGE REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must have just completed any of grades 7 through 12.

 

PITCHING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. If a local league was available, the applicant must have participated in at least 2/3 (two-thirds) of the schedule matches.
  2. If no local league was available, the applicant must have participated in at least 3 sanctioned tournaments in the year prior to making this application.

 

SCHOLASTIC REQUIREMENTS: A grade average of 2.0 (letter grade C) must have been maintained for the ENTIRE school year. (Not just one quarter or semester) Official transcript of grades must accompany application.

 

PARENT/GUARDIAN REQUIREMENTS: Parent or guardian must certify that all information on the application is accurate and true.

 

SELECTION PROCESS: The OHPA Scholarship Committee, comprised of the OHPA officers, will review all applications and determine the winner based on a combination of scholastic achievement and horseshoe pitching participation.

 

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: June 21 of each year.

 

AWARD ANNOUNCEMENT: The winner of the OHPA Scholastic Scholarship will be announced at the annual Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet, held in the fall of each year.

 

PAYMENT OF AWARD: All scholarship monies will be held in trust by the OHPA until said recipient

  1. reaches his/her eighteenth (18th) birthday.
  2. Provides proof of enrollment in a form of continued education after graduating high school.

 

NOTE: If recipient does not enroll in a form of higher education within one year of high school graduation, all scholarship funds held in trust under his/her name will revert back to the OHPA scholarship fund.
